Introduction

The Advanced Management Programme (AMP) is designed for senior executives and emerging leaders. It equips them with abilities to lead organisations and take on general management and corporate level responsibilities. It helps develop skill sets, knowledge and perspectives to lead organisations to exceptional performance and value creation.

Leaders of organisations are responsible for understanding the interests of shareholders and stakeholders. They need to envisage the organisation as a whole, and develop the structures, processes and ethos within the organisation to realise its goals. An organisation is embedded in a larger economic, social and political context. The leader has to have the skills to create and develop teams, translate the vision into distinct goals, and then motivate people to achieve these goals. Additionally, being able to develop the big picture, while having a sense of the details, marks out the leader for success in an ever-changing and unpredictable tomorrow.

The programme is aimed at developing the personal leadership and management skills of participants to take ownership of organisations and lead with confidence.

The AMP is also a platform that enables an interactive learning experience where participants imbibe much from each other. It gives an opportunity to the participants to refresh and update their knowledge through in-depth discussions of business scenarios, and develop analytical and decision-making skills. The AMP is a long duration programme. It is designed for reflective learning. It works best when participants take ownership of their development.

Participants

AMP is designed for executives who have significant managerial responsibility at a functional or operational level, and are on track to take leadership roles at corporate and senior management levels. Learning Model

How it works uniquely for each participant

For 12 months, participants will immerse themselves in the process of learning with a diverse group of executives, and faculty of IIM Ahmedabad who bring years of experience in teaching and in guiding organisations. In engagement with peers and faculty, they will acquire the insights, management skills, and perspectives to lead and manage an organisation.

The programme includes a personalised one-on-one 360-degree leadership and personality assessment module designed to prompt introspection. Participants develop insights about themselves and their leadership capabilities. This puts each participant on a journey of self-driven change, as a person, and as a professional in a variety of contexts.

Pedagogy

The case study method is central to the learning experience at IIM Ahmedabad. Cases bring real-life business situations to the classroom and present the decision-making context to participants. They spark discussions, motivating participants to analyse and share their individual perspectives about the decision, decision efficacy and cost effectiveness. This broadens perspectives and brings a shared understanding of multiple business contexts. Effective learning requires participants to do an in-depth case preparation before the sessions.

Alumni Status

AMP Participants will get the IIMA Alumni Status.

Selection

Seats are limited. Selection for the programme will be based on an application rating, which would consider academic and professional achievements, and motivation. Applicants would have to provide relevant details in addition to a statement of purpose.
