Introduction

General Management Program (GMP) is a flagship executive programme designed, developed, and offered by IIMA. The GMP, a 23 days long intensive programme (in Dubai) will be delivered over 8 months, is adapted to the region to enhance the managerial capabilities of participants to prepare them to shoulder senior general management responsibilities in the future. The programme will enable the working executives to return to the classroom for two to four days every month and acquire knowledge and specialized skills.

Program Objective

The objectives of the General Management programme are to:

  • Enhance the managerial skills of the participants to prepare them to shoulder higher responsibilities.
  • Provide the participants with an opportunity to learn management concepts and techniques relevant for formulating and implementing strategies in functional and general management areas.
  • Enable participants to appreciate interdependencies in an organization and acquire perspectives required for general management positions

Who should attend?

The GMP is for managers seeking to re-vitalize their careers. It is most appropriate for managers holding positions of responsibility within functional departments of medium to large businesses. The participants should have at least five years of managerial experience after graduation.

As the programme makes exceptional intellectual and emotional demands, participants should have an inquiring mind and capacity to think clearly. They must also have a high degree of adaptability and maturity to work and interact closely with other participants under considerable pressure.

Faculties

Piyush Sinha
Prof. , PhD

Dr. Piyush Sinha, is a Professor of Marketing at IIMA (Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad). Dr. Piyush Kumar Sinha joined Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad after a 20-year service in academics and industry.

Prior to joining this Institute, he was the Dean at Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA). He has also taught at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and XIM, Bhubaneswar.

His interests span an eclectic mix from service strategy, communication, brand management, store choice behaviors, and segmenting customers on behavioral criteria. He has published extensively on these topics in leading journals, and has presented papers at international conferences. He is author of books "Emerging trends in Indian Marketing", "Service Marketing" and "Managing Retail". In addition to his academic pursuits Prof Sinha has hands on work experience with retailing and marketing of FMCG brands.

Sanjay Verma
Prof., MBA, Fellow of IIMC (Ph.D.)

Prof. Sanjay Verma is a Professor of Computers and Information Systems Group at IIM Ahmedabad, India.

With over 20 years of experience his interest lies in the field of Supply Chain, MIS & Strategy, and Knowledge Management. He focuses on measurement issues and systems development and implementation.

He is also working in the area of project scheduling especially preemptive scheduling and scheduling with non-regular measures.

Some of the interesting projects he is working on are related to transport infrastructure, health, insurance and public distribution systems.

M.R. Dixit
Prof, PhD (IIT Kanpur)

Prof. M. R. Dixit is a faculty member in the business policy area of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and Gujarat, India. He has also taught in Multi Media University, Malaysia. Has written cases and published papers in the field of strategic management. His teaching, research and consulting areas are Environmental Change and Strategic Response, Entrepreneurial Leadership and Strategy, Innovation and Knowledge Management, and Case Method of Learning.

He has been a member of the Board of Governors of private and public sector undertakings in India. Has been the Editor of Vikalpa, IIMA's Journal for Decision Makers.

Diptesh Ghosh
Prof. , B. Tech (IIT Kharagpur), Fellow IIM Calcutta

Prof. Ghosh obtained his Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India in 1992. Thereafter, he worked for one year with the Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company (currently known as Tata Motors) before joining the doctoral programme in Operations Research and Systems Analysis at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, India. He finished his doctoral work in 1997 and was awarded his diploma in 1998.

After finishing his doctoral work, he has taught at the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, India, and has been a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Econometrics and Operations Research at the University of Groningen, Netherlands. For the last nine years, he has been in the faculty at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. His research interests are in the field of discrete optimization and metaheuristics, and he has published his research in various international journals. His teaching interests are in operations research and decision making.

Dheeraj Sharma
Prof, PhD (Louisiana)

Dr Dheeraj Sharma is currently Associate Professor, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India.

Dr. Sharma earned his doctoral degree with major marketing and double minor in psychology and quantitative analysis from Louisiana Tech University, USA.

He has taught and presented research at numerous education institutions in North America, Europe and Asia. Dr. Sharma has been the recipient of many academic and professional awards.

Dr. Sharma is American Marketing Association Doctoral Consortium Fellow and National Conference of Sales Management Doctoral Fellow. He was nominated for Clifford J. Robson Excellence in Teaching Award and nominated for Erica and Arnold Rogers Excellence in Research Award for year 2009-2010. Dr. Sharma is also past Associate Editor of Journal of Marketing Channels. He is also past Editor of the Academy of Marketing Science proceedings. He is an active member of Academy of Marketing Science, Society of Marketing Advances, American Marketing Association, and World Marketing Congress. As a member of the aforementioned associations, Dr. Sharma has served as a session chair, discussant, track chair, and executive member of organization committee.

Dr. Sharma's has over forty publications in leading international journals, encyclopedias, books, and conference proceedings. Fees, Payments, and Cancellations

The program fee covers tuition, books, case materials, and Tea/Coffee/Lunch on class days.

No payment is necessary until you have been accepted into an IIMA Executive Education program. After admission notification, we will send you an invoice via email; payment is due within 5 days of the invoice date. If admission is within 10 days prior to the start of the program, payment is due upon receipt of the invoice. Payment is required prior to the program start date. We accept payment by company check, bank wire transfer, or Cash. Bank Details are included on the program invoice.

If you need to cancel or defer participation, you must submit your request in writing more than 15 days before the start of the program to receive a full refund. Due to program demand and the volume of pre program preparation, cancellations or deferrals received 7 to 14 days prior to the start of the program are subject to a fee of one-half of the program fee. Requests received within 7 days are subject to full payment.

Learning Model

The programs offered in Dubai are designed and adapted to the business context of the region to prepare participants shoulder senior management responsibilities by enhancing their managerial capabilities. Programs consist of several interdependent modules, each of which focuses on different aspect or function of management. The programs are delivered by IIMA Professors using the famed case-based pedagogy.

Alumni Status

A Certificate of Participation will be issued by Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) to the participants who have completed all the requirements of the programme including attendance of at least 80% of the direct class room contacts and submission of all assignments. GMP Participants will get IIMA Alumni Status.

 

Admissions

Interested candidates are requested to submit the completed application and all required documents before Feb 1,  2018, in order to prepare the application for review by the Admissions Committee.

Meet the Deadlines

We request applications to be sent on or before Feb 1, 2018. Early application does not guarantee admission. Programs often fill to capacity, so early application is recommended.

Notification of Acceptance

We acknowledge receipt of all applications and maintain all application information in strict confidentiality.

The Admissions Committee will review applications and qualified candidates are informed and admitted on a rolling, space-available basis. Once the review process has begun, applicants are notified within minimum time period via email regarding Admissions Committee decisions. If your application is received within two weeks of the program´s start date, the Admissions Committee will notify you of their decision as soon as possible.
