Program Faculty

The program faculty is unique, consist of practitioners – who have started and are managing digital startups – and academics – engaged with reinventing retail.

Prof. Piyush Kumar Sinha is Director, Advisory and Research at CRI. He has 37 years of Advisory, Research and Training as well as Managerial experience in marketing, sales, retailing, service and business strategy for the product as well as service companies (B2C and B2B), in the domains of Retailing and E-Commerce; Luxury and Lifestyle; Healthcare; Decision Sciences and IT. He has been involved in more than 100 advisory and training initiatives in these areas. Prof. Sinha holds a Ph.D. in marketing. He was a Professor of Marketing at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), India till March 2018. Before IIMA, he taught at IIM Bangalore, XIMB and was Dean at MICA. He has published articles in international journals. He has been a member of editorial boards. He has published several books. He is one of the few resources in qualitative research in the country. Between 1995 and 1999, he served as marketing manager for a utility (Gujarat Gas) and an FMCG company (Rasna). He has been a mentor to several start-ups, especially in the area of social entrepreneurship. He serves on the boards of companies such as Gujarat Gas, Infibeam, Ujaas Energy and Jade Blue. He is a member of the CII National Retail Committee.

Prof Sanjay Pal is Senior Faculty of Entrepreneur Development Institute of India. He did his PhD from Calcutta University after doing an MBA. He specialises in Cluster Development, Business Development Services (BDS), Market Development, Value Chain and Rural Marketing. Presently he manage activities pertaining to Sustainable Development of MSMEs in the country. He is also engaged in providing strategic and technical services to the cluster development organisations within and outside India. He has conducted a series of cluster development executive programmes, capacity-building programmes for Business Membership Organisations (BMOs) and BDS. Managing establishment of Entrepreneurship Development Centres (EDCs) overseas. He has carried out research on rural marketing, cluster, value chain, BDS market and presented papers in national and international conferences. Is the authored of a book titled ‘Supply Chain Management-Strategies and Evaluation’.

Manoj has over forty years of work experience and has led organizations for the last twenty years. He has started businesses, helped entrepreneurs start, and is currently starting businesses*. He brings a unique perspective to the program been anentrepreneur, CEO and a academic. He was until recently Chief Strategy Officer for Apparel, a retail company in Dubai (2013-2018). He was Executive Director of Dubai SME, a Government organization that catalyzes entrepreneurship through incubation, funding and growth support (2005-2013). He became CEO of The Waterbase Ltd. in 1990, a company he listed on the Mumbai Stock Exchange. Manoj is a Mechanical Engineer from IIT Delhi, an MBA from IIM, Bangalore, anda Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University, USA.
